March 1, 2019Ever wondered what ‘heavy equipment’ really means? Though we offer a number of lending solutions for businesses, including office equipment or other capital purchases – Heavy Equipment is something we understand intimately. These pieces of machinery are the life blood of construction, resource extraction, and infrastructure. Here are 5 common types of Heavy Equipment we’ve leased or financed for customers.
Excavators
Functional on wheels or tracks, usually equipped with a bucket arm attached to a pivot cab that rotates at a 360 degree angle. The operator of the machine sits inside this cab, where they can use the machine to dig, lift, demolish or install pipes to name a few of the excavator’s functions.
Backhoe Loaders
The main difference the backhoe loader possesses from tractors is that it carries an adjustable shovel in the front and small bucket found at the back, typically used to dig. Backhoe loaders are tire mounted, considered to be beneficial as they can be utilized in urbanized spaces and patios. The bucket can be interchanged in order to dig trenches of different sizes.
Bulldozers
Recognized among the strongest and most reliable, its durability has proven effective to move large quantities of dirt across long distances of land. With a wide, flat blade in front of the machine driven by 2 hydraulic pistons, a quality dozer can be used to push tons of earth as well as surface grading depending on the bulldozer’s size.
Crawler Loaders
This piece of equipment combines the backhoe and the excavator, able to increase production when hauling material. Crawler loaders are mounted on a track, easily mobility without the need for any additional modes of transportation. Used to dump and load soil to across locations.
Motor Graders
Used to grade soil and transport dirt in small amounts. A long adjustable blade meets different angles and creates a flat surface. Usually motor graders are equipped with a blade located ahead of the front axle and can sometimes be used for mining. Typically used to prepare the base course before placing asphalt, they can also be used to create a sloped surface or drainage ditches.
